Our Mission here at Patriots for Disabled Divers is to introduce Disabled Veterans to the joy, adventure, camaraderie and therapy of scuba diving though our network of affiliate PADI dive shops.
PFDD only provides funding for PADI Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue, and Reactivate courses.
We only fund ONE certification course per diver and do not provide funding for professional level certifications or dive equipment.
The PADI Open Water Course is the entry-level certification but we also offer continuing education opportunities for those who are at different levels in their dive journey.
If you already have a scuba certification from ANY agency, you must let us know.
PFDD Requires that you have at least a 30% disability rating from the Veteran’s Administration to receive PFDD funding. We cannot fund active duty servicemembers.
We can only fund your certification through one of our affiliate dive shops. You can find the complete list of affiliates on our website at: https://www.patriotsfordisableddivers.org/affiliates/. Once you find the closest affiliate, feel free to call them and ask about their program but please identify yourself as a PFDD applicant when you call.
We cannot fund travel, lodging, or food so let us know which affiliate is convenient for you and if you are willing to travel at your own expense.
